Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has alleged Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as Shi’ite, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky has been running a parallel government in most parts of the north in the last 40 years. The Nation Report.

Speaking to newsmen Tuesday, Dr Gumi said that ‘’the Shi’ites have been embarking on military training and producing cadets and soldiers.’’ The Islamic cleric further alleged that they were ‘’operating a state within a state.’’

According to Sheik Gumi, ‘’The Islamic Movement of Nigeria does not recognise the corporate entity of Nigeria. The group is not registered. They operate above the law and they get direct foreign aid,’’ he further alleged.

He stated further that, former President Umaru Yar’adua had told him of the massive importation of ammunitions and weapons to different parts of the country, adding that the president had mentioned Iran as supplying arms to the Shiites.

said that the recent clash between Shiites and soldiers was ‘’a divine intervention to prevent us from a catastrophe like that of Boko Haram. It came sudden and powerful to eradicate and uproot any plan that they must have been having to harm the society.’’

Gumi said that he had written Zakzaky about a year ago, warning him about the dangers of blocking roads during the annual Ar’baeen trek, where his follower travelled on foot from all over the country to Zaria. He said that blocking road is an abomination in Islam.

The scholar warned that the north will continue to be under-developed if the twin evils of shia and Boko Haram are not eradicated, adding that ‘’the strife and unnecessary blocking of roads and shouting slogans on the way increases the tension in the north.’’

The Nigerian Communications Commission has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss or decline hearing in the suit filed by MTN Nigeria Communications Limited to challenge the N1.04trn fine imposed on it by the commission.

NCC had imposed the N1.04trn fine on MTN for its failure to disconnect its unregistered subscribers in line with the commission’s directive.

But not pleased with the sanction, the communications company had through its legal team, comprising seven Senior Advocates of Nigeria, approached a Federal High Court in Lagos seeking an order quashing the fine.

MTN had urged the court to determine whether NCC could act pursuant to Section 70 of the NCC Act to impose a fine on it without breaching the provisions of sections 1 (3), 4 and 6 of the 1999 Constitution.

The telecommunications company claimed that NCC violated it's fundamental right to fair hearing, adding that by imposing the fine, NCC was already usurping “the exclusive legislative powers of the National Assembly, as well as the judicial powers of the courts established under the Constitution.”

Dickson

According to The Nation, Ahead of the supplementary governorship election in Bayelsa State, the state Governor, Seriake Dickson, visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday.

Source from The punch, Dickson, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, arrived the premises around 2pm and headed straight towards the President’s office.

However, it has not been ascertained if the governor met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
The governor refused to speak to journalists on his visit to the seat of government.

He later told State House correspondents he was going to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari. The Nation

 According to The Punch, When he was also asked how he was preparing for the election, Dickson said the election had been won and lost. “The people of Bayelsa have spoken,” he said as he was finding his way to the Chief of Staff’s office.

When he was also told the need to react to media reports that ex-militants are already re-grouping ahead of the supplementary election, the governor said members of his camp are always known to be peaceful.
“You know those who are always violent. You know that we are peaceful people,” he said.
