Leicester City missed the chance to return to the top of the Premier League as they played out a goalless draw with Manchester City at the King Power Stadium.



Leicester and Manchester City both had chances in an entertaining encounter, with goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Joe Hart excelling with a succession of saves.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri: "I think we made a very good match. It was difficult. We played well, we created some chances. I wanted to see how my players responded after the Liverpool defeat and they responded well.

Some members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria have been arraigned at the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Zaria Road, Kaduna and charged with criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbances.

Leader of the Shi’ite Islamic sect Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky was yesterday remanded in prison custody by a chief magistrate. of his supporters were arraigned with him.

Police spokesperson Olabisi Kolawole confirmed to the Newsmen on Tuesday that the arraignment and remand of the Shi’ite leader  and members.

She said: “The Shi’ite leader has been arraigned at a
magistrates’ court and charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbances, among others. He has been remanded in prison custody and the case adjourned.”

The Shi’ite leader was arrested after his members blocked. the path of the Chief of Army Staff in Zaria, leading to a clash with soldiers. Many sect members were killed. But the Islamic movement said soldiers simply attacked “defenseless people.”

Senator Mark while addressing members of his party at his Otukpo residence recently, challenged anyone to come forward and he’ll prove that he had done enough for his people within the past 16 and should be given some credits.

“I am so tired of people going about saying David Mark hasn’t done anything in the past Sixteen years, if anybody said David Mark has not done anything for Idoma people, let such person challenge me in clear terms and I shall prove that in the last Eight (8.) Years, the Idoma People has benefited from my Leadership more than any other tribe in the whole of Nigeria.

The former Military Administrator of Niger state said also gave Insight into his continuous silence during senate sittings.

“When the PDP lost the general election in March, I decided that I will maintain and remain silent until the end of the year. That is why I have not been talking. Of course for those of you who know me, you know I can talk, but not all unnecessary talks.” He explained.

On the forthcoming rerun in the Zone, Mark said he was waiting on God to direct him if he should re-contest or pull out but chairman of the party in the state insisted that his people still want him to ‘continue the job he has started.”

He said, “I have been praying to God to direct me whether I am to re-contest this election come February 2016 or not. When I relayed this issue to the Party Chairman as one of the elders in this party, he told me in clear terms that he is not going to table this matter for discussion and that I have no other option than to rerun for the Senate. He told me I must do this for the people.”

Hundreds of youths stormed the streets blocking all entrances to the Government House in demand for an explanation for the abrupt decision after they had been rehearsing for over three weeks for the event.


Speaking in the matter, one of the participants lamented the insensitivity of the government towards the youths saying  “Training had begun in d 2nd week of December and we were told all was in order even up till yesterday. Today we came only to be informed that the carnival would not hold.  Most participants come from as far as Kanshio, Adaka, Gaadi, Airforce etc spending transportation fare only to meet this sorrow.”

Meanwhile, the state government has appealed for calm saying there was a breach of communication between the government and the organisers of the carnival which made them unaware of the latest development.

Governor Samuel Ortom, represented by Attorney General, Barr. Mike Gusa “The Governor is not aware of this arrangement but he is not happy that you are all in the sun here because you are his children.

“We have gotten in touch with him and he has said that since you people came here and because you are his children, we should look for a way to solve this problem so that you people will go back.” He said.

Wednesday December 30, 2015, will be the first host of presidential media Chat of President Muhammadu Buhari  since in office.



A statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the media chat will be broadcast live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

President Buhari, in the course of the programme, will answer questions from a panel of journalists on current national issues.

The presidential media chat will begin at 1900 hours.
“Other television and radio stations in the country may hook- up to NTA and FRCN to relay the programme to their viewers and listeners,” the statement added.
