Kop out: Liverpool 'stars' let Klopp down
with disgraceful showing
Watford may not be Borussia Dortmund, but Klopp
would’ve applauded their combative style in a game he predicted would be difficult. His Liverpool side, meanwhile, had ahard enough time fighting their own ineptitude let alone thwarting their hosts.
Just weeks ago it was suggested the Reds could go on and win the Premier League after victories over Chelsea and Manchester City, but at present the only table they are likely to sit top of in May is for the number of individual errors they commit. From
Adam Bogdan in goal to Roberto Firmino in attack, Liverpool were riddled with faults.
Their mistakes were ridiculed and applauded by the home support, as Watford took full advantage. If anything, the Merseysiders were fortunate to leave Hertfordshire with only a 3-0 defeat. If the scoreline was doubled in Watford’s favour, they could have had no complaints.
The visitors were outmuscled and thoroughly outplayed, with Klopp angrily shouting instructions from the sidelines that didn’t seem to register with any of his players. They did not react to their
mistakes, which encouraged Watford to force them into more errors and more misery.
The 48-year-old has regularly insisted that his squad is more than good enough and is not in need of major surgery in the transfer window, but he must surely reassess that conviction after Sunday's result.
Second choice goalkeeper Adam Bogdan was guilty of committing the same basic errors that have plagued Simon Mignolet's reign as No.1. Supporters will be alarmed if Klopp fails to strengthen that department.
